Please contact the registrar at your child’s school in advance of the first day. To find that telephone number, call the main switchboard at the campus (which can be found on the main Legacy website in the upper right corner) and ask to speak to the registrar.

Items forgotten at home such as lunch, textbooks, homework, sports equipment and/or musical instruments may be dropped off at the school and placed in a designated area with the student’s name, grade, and teacher for pick up. An email notification will be sent to the teacher that the item has been dropped off. LTS does not guarantee the delivery or timing thereof.

It is our policy that students do not distribute invitations to parties on campus. Parents may voluntarily provide their personal contact information to be placed in a public directory for the purpose of invitations, carpooling, classroom events, etc. Parents may request a copy of their child’s classroom directory from the teacher for student contact information.

Legacy Traditional School promotes health and wellness in its programming and services and understands that there is a direct correlation between health, school attendance, and student achievement. In the event that a student cannot attend school, the parent or guardian must call the school attendance voicemail (and leave a message providing the reason for the absence) or email the school attendance email account by 10 a.m. The phone number for your child’s school is located on the school’s website in the upper right-hand corner. Please note that an email to the classroom teacher will not suffice. Any absent student who has not had a parent contact the attendance office by 10 a.m. (1:40 p.m. for PM Kindergartners) will be marked as “unexcused.”

Legacy Traditional Schools does not require a doctor’s note in order to have your child’s absence excused. However, in the case of some illnesses, a doctor’s note may be required before a student can return to school. Please speak with the health assistant at your campus if you have any questions regarding your child’s return to school after illness.

In the event of medical necessity, students may be excused from physical activity in P.E. class for up to two days per grading period with a parent note. Anything exceeding two days requires a note from a healthcare professional. Students who are excused from physical activity may earn their daily participation points by completing a written assignment in class.

Students who are tardy must have a parent/guardian sign them in at the front office and they must receive a tardy slip before going to class. Parents should be aware that tardy students who arrive after a certain time might be marked as absent for half or all of the day in accordance with state instructional minutes guidelines.

Parents must be ready to present an ID at the front office to verify their identity (Driveline signs will not be accepted as a form of ID). For the safety of the students, and to minimize front office disruption, the school does not allow students to sign out during the last 15 minutes of the school day, unless there is an emergency.

Students’ birthdays are recognized at our Flag Ceremony and by classroom teachers with a small gift.

You can access your child’s homework by logging into Schoology. Homework assignments will be posted each week. You can also check the weekly email sent by your child’s teacher.

Legacy teachers are required to offer an hour a week of tutoring. Your child is welcome to join their teacher’s tutoring session, or that of another teacher in that grade level, to meet the needs of your schedule.

We do not sell copies of textbooks. However, you are welcome to locate and purchase a copy of your child’s textbook from a website of your choice.

We recommend that parents contact their local music store, to make arrangements to rent an instrument for their child. However, instrument scholarships may be available at some Legacy campuses. Please contact your child’s music teacher for more information.

Legacy teachers most frequently communicate with parents via email updates, including a weekly newsletter that is emailed home, which includes announcements, academic information for the week, and campus and district information.

Every other Thursday, the administrative team sends out an e-newsletter called The District Quill. The District Quill includes information such as food service updates, new campus information and testing tips.

• Step 1: Check the SPAM filter on your email to see if it was incorrectly tagged as spam.
• Step 2: Log into PowerSchool (for Arizona parents) and Infinite Campus (for Nevada parents) to see if your email address is correctly listed, and fix if necessary.
• Step 3: If your email is correct, please contact thequill@stage.legacytraditional.org, and they can check to see if you have inadvertently opted out of school emails.

Driveline usually takes just 15 minutes during the school year. Please note, it can take upwards of 30 minutes at a new school for the first few weeks, as students and parents become used to the process.

When you come to school to pick up your child, you will enter one of the Driveline lanes. Please make sure that your Driveline sign (provided to you on Back to School Night) is propped up and visible on your windshield. Legacy staff working outside during Driveline will then type your Driveline number into a tablet. This will generate a message to your child’s teacher, letting them know you are here and which lane you are in. Generally, by the time your child gathers their belongings and makes their way to the pickup lane, you are there or almost there.

Only those adults listed on your child’s Emergency Contact form may pick you your child. If you need to add or change emergency contacts, please request through the front office.

Parents must select the unsupervised release option of “bike” or “walk” on the online enrollment form.  Unsupervised release students are provided with a school-issued zip tie that is to be placed on their backpack, which allows staff to easily identify walkers. At dismissal each day, unsupervised release students initial the classroom form and have the teacher initial next to theirs.

In the case of an emergency requiring the student to walk home, parents/guardians must email the front office and the child’s teacher, so that there is a temporary written release on file.

Changes may be made at any time in the front office, however, it takes 48 hours for the change to be effective, so please plan accordingly.

If you are unable to pick your child up on time, please contact the front office. For the regular school day (including KEEP), students picked up more than 30 minutes after dismissal will be considered a late pick-up. Please note, if we are not able to contact you or the emergency contacts listed, we may be required to call local authorities to assist. Staff is not permitted to transport children to or from school.

Legacy campuses are not nut-free campuses and we do serve nuts during our lunch program.

At the beginning of each sports season there will be a mandatory parent meeting. At this meeting, the campus athletic director will share the process and dates, etc. for tryouts (please note, processes may vary slightly from campus to campus). Communication regarding the date, time and location of the meeting will be sent out ahead of time.

No. Students at Legacy Traditional Schools do not have to dress out for P.E. However, athletic shoes are required to participate in class.

Junior High students may dress out for P.E. if they would like. Dress-out uniforms include pattern-free red, white or blue T-shirts and pattern-free red, black or blue fingertip length gym shorts or athletic pants. Skintight pants are not permitted.

Uniforms can be purchased through Legacy or at a retailer of your choice such as Target or Walmart. Yes, visitors are allowed on campus! However, all parents and visitors must sign in at the front office, present a photo ID and be listed as an Emergency Contact (or be accompanied by an Emergency Contact) in order to eat lunch with a student or attend Flag Ceremonies. The same rule applies for attending student talent shows as well as award and promotion ceremonies.

Please be advised, Legacy does use the Raptor System. All campus visitors are required to scan their driver’s license which is then validated against criminal databases.

We feel that active parental involvement is critical to the success of our students and schools. To volunteer in the classroom or chaperone a field trip, you must complete a Parent Volunteer Fingerprint Application and pay a fee. Once completed, parents must complete the screening information form (facilitated by Accurate Background), pass a background check and be approved by the administration.

This process must be completed every two years. To complete the form and pay the $22 fee, please visit your school’s website > Parent Resources > Parent Volunteers. Or, simply provide a valid fingerprint clearance card at the front office.
